Jon Sabado, 2017-2018 Registrar and 2015-2017 Prior President
Jon is an active duty Marine with over 16 years of military service. He was born and raised in southern California and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland with a B.S. in General Engineering. He received a Master of Science in Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and now serves as a Program Analyst assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps at the Pentagon. As a member of the Club, Jon leverages his extensive military training and overseas experience serving with senior foreign military officials, U.S. diplomats, and other government agencies to support the strategic vision and goals of Capital Water Polo Club. Jon and his wife April have a three kids, Jorel, Alani, and Aya and live in Springfield, VA. Jorel is a recent graduate of Club and earned a position on the Fresno University collegiate water polo roster in the fall of 2017.
2015-2017 Secretary, Catherine Townsend
Catherine is a proud parent of four children, including her third son Sean Pine, a U16 player who joined the Narwhals program in 2012. Catherine has over 25 years of executive leadership experience in the non-profit sector, supporting organizations whose missions serve youth and the community, including serving as President of the DC Public Education Fund (raising private funds for DC Public Schools) for two years and Associate Director of Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry (a national organization ending childhood hunger) for eighteen years. She also launched the Federal office of Townsend Public Affairs (TPA) in 2005, a California-based family-owned government affairs and advocacy firm. Currently, she is an independent consultant, helping non-profits design and execute new projects, train teams and build operational effectiveness. Originally a Southern California native, Catherine has been a resident and active member of her Capitol Hill, Washington, DC community. She serves on the board of Playworks DC, which provides quality recess programs to over 7,000 students in 18 DC public schools. She is also the commissioner and coach of HoopGirlsDC, a recreation basketball program for over 50 girls annually, ages 8 to 13, which she founded in 2005.
